TBC: Personal block/skirt pattern course

PLEASE NOTE: This course is not available to book. We ran this course in 2023. The details of this course for 2024 are yet to be confirmed. *********************************************************************************************** Blocks are the foundation to flat pattern-making. With a well fitted skirt block you are able to design and create skirts as you fancy. During this course we will develop a personal fitting block AND design and make a skirt using your block. Here is an outline of what this looks like: Personal block: - Learn about blocks and how they’re used - Alter a standard block to your size using your measurements - Make and fit a toile (test garment) using correct sewing techniques - Finalise your personal block! Design and create a skirt of your choice using your personal block: - Sketch and analyse your design for a straight or A-line skirt - Follow third-scale plan of action to create a full sized pattern - Cut and sew your skirt in fabric of your choice! Expect to learn a bit of theory on the design process from sketch to pattern-making and how to adjust and prove patterns. If you are unable to attend a session, you may attend one free catch up session within the small group timetable. If you are absent from additional sessions you may book and pay for a catch-up session(s) online either as a private class(es) or small group class(es). This course will be an intimate group of 5 students. Your spot is not able to be filled if you cancel your enrolment part way through the course. Because of this, if you forfeit your enrolment you will not receive a refund for any instalments paid. If you have partially completed the course but are unable to continue due to extended illness, injury or severe personal circumstance, you may negotiate a partial credit to small group classes with Sarah. This pattern-making course is based at Sew Like Sarah in Tarragindi, Brisbane. If full capacity is not reached by starting date, we will have to postpone it for next year. In this case you will receive a full refund.
