Creativity is beneficial in so many ways, especially if we are having to stay at home in the current climate, so I am making available all Sew Like Sarah sessions online on Zoom.
If you've always wanted to sew, make this lockdown your time to learn with interactive, personalised classes.
You can be anywhere and you don't have to travel! Learn useful practical skills in live sessions which are just for the participants.

Beginner Course Contact
Get familiar with your own machine or investigate what to buy. For students wanting to do the beginner sewing exercises I will post you the kit which has lesson notes, cut pieces of calico for each exercise and my Tote Bag pattern. I demonstrate and guide you through each exercise so that you can see exactly how to do them and build yourself a reference folder. My Tote Bag is the first project after the exercises and then you can choose your own.

Advanced Course Contact
You can learn more advanced exercises such as different types of pockets and zips. You can work on your own project. This might be a bought pattern that I can interpret and guide you through in real time.
Zoom sessions run in the same way as the physical sessions and at the same times and prices. The 2 or 3 hour sessions can be split up or taken at once.
There are a maximum of three students per Zoom class. You will need a camera and audio on your device and a way of propping up your phone, tablet or computer. It will help if you have somewhere you can set up your machine and overlocker if you have one. Your kitchen bench will usually be the best height for cutting and pattern work.
Zoom is not too hard and it’s free. All you need to do is download Zoom before hand, have a look around and get a bit familiar with it. Once your session time is confirmed and paid for I will email you an invitation with a link to the meeting. You also get a password so that you can join the session. I use the Waiting Room feature so I can check who wants to join in to each session. Also Chat Lockdown so no-one can join in after we start.

If you have not attended before, please fill in the contact form and I will reply to you as soon as I can.
If you are an existing student you can keep your current time or you may want to change. Just send me an email listing your preferred session times or confirming that you want to keep your place the same.

All payments are by bank transfer before your first class.
Let's be careful for one another. Hope to see you in cyberspace soon.
Thank you, Sarah

What current students have to say about Zoom classes.
With the COVID-19 situation I thought I would have to take a break from sewing/patternmaking lessons but Sarah has moved to delivering lessons online. From my perspective it has been really successful and although I love going in to class this is the next best thing, and Sarah still makes learning easy.

Highlight of 2020 - Learning to Sew!
I had not touched a sewing machine until I started attending Sarah's workshop and now I can confidently sew! I am excited to now be learning basic pattern making techniques! I really am finding the time spent making handmade items to be very satisfying.
The classes have been great because they are composed of very small groups and I have progressed through structured activities at my own pace to develop overlocking and sewing skills. I am now very pleased to be working on my first dressmaking project and pursuing a developing area of interest. Sarah is such a talented instructor that she is able to lead a dynamic learning environment that caters to individual interests, differences and abilities.
My learning has not been adversly impacted throughout the introduction of social distancing measures. Sarah has started online classes using Zoom (which is intuitive and easy to use), and ensures that I have what I need before my lessons. I am currently enjoying working away on my dining table at home.

Though different in some ways, the online session with Sarah still enabled me to learn and create. Sarah’s lovely manner and patience helped create new ways of learning. I found Sarah accommodated learning by creating samples on hand and clearly instructing me what to do with what! I look forward to having a lesson face to face but in the meantime Sarah has done her best to accommodate with an awful situation and meet the Government guidelines.
